(1) घोष व्यंजन — घोष व्यंजन वे व्यंजन हैं जिनका उच्चारण करते समय स्वर-तंत्रियाँ कंपन करती हैं, जिससे ध्वनि में गूंज या मृदुता आती है. तालव्य वर्ण- जिन वर्णों का उच्चारण तालु से होता है, उसे तालव्य वर्ण कहते हैं। जैसे- इ, च,छ, ज, झ, य, और तालव्य श। व्यंजन के विभिन्न भेद उनके उच्चारण स्थान और ध्वनि गुण के आधार पर होते हैं।

जिन व्यंजन वर्णों का उच्चारण करते समय प्राणवायु जिह्वा के दोनों पार्श्व से निकल जाती हो उन्हें पार्श्विक व्यंजन कहते हैं.

जिन वर्णों का उच्चारण करते समय साँस कण्ठ, तालु आदि स्थानों से रुककर निकलती है उन्हें ‘व्यंजन’ कहा जाता है। व्यंजन वे ध्वनियाँ हैं जिनके उच्चारण में फेफड़ों से बाहर आनेवाली वायु मुख में किसी-न-किसी स्थान पर रोककर निकाली जाती है। अत.
